THE JOOSTEN PROJECT

Beaver Crossing Nebraska residents, Dave and Cindy Joosten are spending their winter in a small camper, just a few feet from where their home

once stood. Like the Timmermans (the recipients of our December disaster relief home), and a few other Beaver Crossing residents, their home was damaged beyond repair by the Mother’s Day tornado last year. It’s been a long winter for the Joostens, but they’ve managed to stay warm. Dave has done his best since the tornado to make him and his new bride, Cindy, comfortable in the make-shift residence.

We first met the newlyweds while in town this December on our disaster relief build for the Timmermans. At that time, Dave, a disabled handy man, was attempting to fill the hole left behind after the demolition of their home. Due to a lack of dirt on the site, we were unable to assist them with their earth moving project, but in later communications, the couple shared their desire to build a garage-like structure to replace their home. After a considerable amount of prayer, ONE FAMILY ONE PURPOSE has decided to assist the family in the construction of their dwelling. We have offered to build the outer shell and fully finish the exterior, leaving the couple to fund and finish the interior.

We estimate our share of the building cost of this modest structure at approximately $20,000. We need your help! While the financial obligation is much lower than our regular December builds, it is a very quick turnaround for the organization, its donors, and volunteers. It is our goal to have the funds raised, and the structure built by the time the foundation is poured in mid-March.

Please consider ways you might be a part of this project. The Joostens have a considerable need, and we are confident that God can, and will, use you to meet it. We appreciate your support and prayer for this project.

UPDATED DATES: The exterior construction will begin Wednesday, the 18th (afternoon), and conclude as early as Thursday, March 19th (Pending weather cooperation).

HOUSING: Our friends at the Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church have, once again, graciously opened up their doors for ONE FAMILY ONE PURPOSE. We will be staying at their facility in Seward, Nebraska for the duration of the build. Their address is 2433 Progressive Ave.  We hope you’ll join us!
